Geofencing is a feature that uses the physical location of your mobile device to alert Home HQ when to go into home or away mode. Subsequently, any rules related to home and away mode will be affected.
With geofencing enabled, a zone is established by a virtual boundary around 500 meters from your home. A home or away change will trigger when your device checks-in after it passes into or out of the zone. If you are home, in home mode, and you leave this zone, two things should happen: you should get an alert “Going into away mode,” and your mode should automatically change to away. When you return to the zone, you should get an alert “Arrive at Home”, and your mode should change to home.
Geofencing is located on the modes screen. You can access it from the Home HQ home page located at the top of the menu. By default, it is set to home mode. Tap the toggle at the bottom of the modes screen to turn geofencing on. Tap Geofencing to set your home location.
Note: You may be asked to give Home HQ permission to access your location. In fact, you may be prompted twice – once to enable location access in general, and once to let Home HQ have access. To modify your location settings, go to: Settings > Security & Privacy > Location Services.
Geofencing on multiple devices is not yet supported. If you have two devices with geofencing linked to your system, it will respond to the most recent event.
